Our relationship with Barney, of Design Identity, began in January 2001 as we began to dream about doing what God had called us to do. That was to exceed people’s expectations in a Christian Bookstore, and let them know that they could trust God to exceed the expectations in their life.

We were drawn to Barney and his staff at first because of the heading on their website that said “Store Design beyond the Ordinary.” As we looked at some of their projects we could tell someone had a gift and an eye for design.

We went to Expo 2001 as potential storeowners and found out at the last minute that they had a booth there. When we met Barney and his associates, we could tell they were about ministry. We talked to another store designer and left Expo believing God had arranged a divine appointment for us, and Design Identity was “our solution.”

Our customer’s response has been exactly what we desired. From the fireplace to the children’s area, they know there is nothing “ordinary” about the design of our store.
